The Least of These: Sacrifice of the Innocent on the Alter of Liberalism

In the Saddleback Forum, President Elect Obama showed his unwillingness to bring that which he claims to believe in to bear on difficult political issues and fall out of sync with his liberal party politics when Pastor Warren asked, “What do you think is the greatest moral failure of America?”

Mr. Obama replied with Matthew 25:40: ‘’Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

He went on to say that wealthy and powerful as we are as a nation, we still don’t spend enough time thinking about the least of these, about the common good. Mr. Obama said this teaching of Christ applies to racism and sexism in addition to poverty, but he would not expand ‘the least of these’ to include the unborn.

When Pastor Warren asked about abortion, “At what point is a baby entitled to human rights?”, Mr. Obama punted the question with a lawyer’s what-is-truth, dodge ball reply: “Well, i think that whether you are looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade.”

Who better falls under ‘the least of these’ than a totally helpless unborn child, with only his or her parents and government to look to for protection?  Answering the question is now within your pay grade, Mr. Obama. But, than, you’ve already answered it by your unwillingness to provide medical support even for those poor children who survive botched abortions.
