Iran and North Korea already perceive how weak, inexperienced and naive BO is. They discounted the U.N. (Useless Nations) years ago, and with BO’s capitulation, both Ahmadinejad and Kim Jong-Il are in our face with their stated intention to go forward with nuclear development.
For a nuclear deterent to work, the other side has to believe we will use our atomic weapons. BO gives no one the slightest impression that he has the stones to stand toe to toe with characters like Ahmadinejad and Jong-Il without blinking. BO is Jimmy Carter all over again, and this time in spades.
Our Decaying Nuclear Deterrent
By JON KYL and RICHARD PERLE

June 29, 2009
A bipartisan congressional commission, headed by some of our most experienced national security practitioners, recently concluded that a nuclear deterrent is essential to our defense for the foreseeable future. It also recommended that urgent measures be taken to keep that deterrent safe and effective.Unfortunately, President Barack Obama has adopted an agenda that runs counter to the commission’s recommendations.Consider the president’s declaration, in a major speech this spring in Prague, of “America’s commitment to seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons.” Will such a world be peaceful and secure? It is far from self-evident….

TEHRAN, June 27 — President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad added new fuel to an intensifying spat with President Obama on Saturday, denouncing what he called “insulting” comments about a crackdown on protesters, and two opposition presidential candidates rejected participation in a special committee aimed at resolving the disputed June 12 election on the government’s terms….

North Korea declares all-out push for nuclear weapons

North Korea declared it would turn its plutonium stocks into weapons material and threatened military action against the US and its allies after the UN security council imposed new sanctions to punish Pyongyang for last month’s underground nuclear test.
The country’s foreign ministry today acknowledged for the first time that North Korea was developing a uranium enrichment programme and said it would be “impossible” to abandon its nuclear ambitions….

Excellent article in Politico this morning. Liberal tax and spend policies are coming home to roost in California, and they really don’t know what to do when they run out of other people’s money. Fiscally irresponsible California politicians created their own mess. Let ‘em sit in it.

Washington to California: Drop dead
Victoria McGrane
POLITICO.com
June 28, 2009
With California’s state government deadlocked over a $24 billion hole in its budget, the Golden State is hurtling toward financial apocalypse.
Washington’s response? Deal with it yourselves.
California is the world’s 8th-largest economy, home to one out of every eight Americans and the holder of 55 electoral votes. The state enjoys incredible sway on Capitol Hill — witness Friday’s passage of the climate change bill championed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) — and it may hold the key to President Barack Obama’s re-election: California’s fiscal pain could imperil the economic recovery of the entire nation….

House Narrowly Passes Bill Designed to Influence Earth’s Climate by Restricting U.S. Industry and Imposing Costs on American Families
By CNSNews.com Staff
Saturday, June 27, 2009
The U.S. House of Representatives narrowly passed a bill yesterday that is intended to influence the Earth’s climate by limiting the emission of carbon and other designated “greenhouse gases” within the United States thus imposing costs on American families.
The conservative Heritage Foundation estimates that by 2035 the bill would cut the Gross Domestic Product of the United States by $6,790 per family of four and impose $4,600 in carbon taxes per family. The Heritage Foundation analysis countered an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office that determined that the bill would only cost $175 per household in 2020….
Before the vote, David Limbaugh wrote in Townhall.com:
Throw the Bums Out
The truth is that there is no crisis, and all the hysteria they’re generating is solely for the purpose of ramrodding this odious bill through Congress before the public realizes it has, once again, been duped and betrayed.
Let’s work to see it doesn’t make it through the Senate. Call/write/fax your Senator. Then, at the first electoral opportunity, lets do throw the bums out as David Limbaugh suggests.
P.S. In particular, lets remember the eight “Republicans” who could have killed this resolution in the house. If just SEVEN of them had voted “NO,” H.R.2454 would now be pushing up daisies.

Why The Big Bang On Health Care If Smaller, Targeted Plan Will Do?

Why do we need President Obama’s big-bang health care reform at all? What’s the real agenda here?
If it’s really to cover the truly uninsured, a much cheaper, targeted, small-ball approach would do the trick. But on the other hand, maybe the real goal is a larger, ultra-liberal plan aimed at a government takeover of the U.S. health system….

Nancy Pelosi wants Obama’s new Energy Tax Bill passed by the House’s Fourth of July recess. If passed, new taxes from this bill would:
- Raise inflation-adjusted gasoline prices by 74 percent.
- Raise electricity rates 90% after adjusting for inflation.
- Raise the cost of living of a typical household by $1,600 a year.
- Raise residential natural gas prices by 55%.
- Destroy 1-3 million jobs per year, every year until 2035.

The Left’s interest groups have been mobilizing their grassroots activists to pressure Congress to pass the Energy Tax (H.R. 2454). Groups such as the League of Conservation Voters are telling their members that “Big Oil” is standing in the way of this bill passing.
The fact is, however, that the American people are beginning to realize that “Cap and Trade” is nothing but a massive new energy tax system. That’s the reason the bill has slowed down. In no small part this is thanks to the over 100,000 people that have already signed the Stop the Energy Tax petition, and have sent it along to their friends and family urging them to do the same.
As Nancy Pelosi mentioned recently, they want the Energy Tax voted on by July 4. That just means we need to continue to push, even harder, and inform people about how bad this new tax would be for the economy.
Some members have been asking us about creating a downloadable petition to print out and collect signatures in their neighborhoods. So we went ahead and made one, and you can download it by clicking HERE.
Don’t forget to mail or fax them back to us at American Solutions when you’re done. The address and number you need is right at the bottom of the sheet.
