ObamaCare: The sum of all fears
Mary Katharine Ham, Weekly Standard
Guy Benson, Townhall
August 5, 2010He (Obama) told the AMA: “If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.”
Promise #1: If you are satisfied with your existing health care arrangement, you can keep it.
Promise #2: Reform will lower America’s health care spending.
Promise #3: Reform will lower Americans’ health care premiums.
Promise #4: Obamacare will not lead to a doctor shortage, or escalate the primary-care physician shortfall.
Promise #5: There will be no government rationing of medical care.
Promise #6: “The firm pledge” – Ninety-five percent of Americans will not see any form of tax increase because of Obamacare (or anything else).
Promise #7: Health care reform won’t add “a single dime” to the deficit—and will actually cut it.
Promise #8: Health care reform will help businesses—employers and employees, alike.
Promise #9: Obamacare will not allow for funding of abortions with taxpayer money.
Promise #10: Obamacare will not only satisfy each of the promises above, but satisfy all of them at the same time with virtually no downsides.

AARP’s support of ObamaCare makes sense now. There’s just one hell of a lot more money in it for AARP if ObamaCare passes. Read what Michelle Malkin has to say:
Hmmm: Is the AARP getting “kickbacks” from Obamacare?

AARP members who are still wondering why their leaders in Washington want to sell them out on Obamacare, pay attention.
The GOP has uncovered one very lucrative possibility: Kickbacks.
Here’s the deal:

Carter’s peanut-size brain continues to fail him as he slams Joe Wilson as a racist bigot. Carter once again confirms the maxim: If you want to know where a liberal is at, listen to what he accuses others of.
National hemorrhoid Jimmy Carter, as Rush refers to him, belongs in a home someplace.
Carter ‘Racism’ Claim Draws Widespread Criticism
FOXNews.com
September 16, 2009Former President Jimmy Carter drew widespread criticism Wednesday for saying that Rep. Joe Wilson’s “You lie!” outburst last week was “based on racism” and that an “overwhelming portion” of similar demonstrations against President Obama are rooted in bigotry.
Obama’s supporters have attributed racist motives to some opponents of his health care plan for weeks, but Carter is the highest-profile person so far to push that claim.

Seems the only thing true during Barack Almighty’s speech came from Joe Wilson.
Speaking Of Misinformation

September 11/2009Millions of Americans finally got to hear the Democrats pitch on health care reform, made by their top salesman. But they heard nothing new — just a lot of discredited myths recycled as the truth. For the record, we support improving our health care system. As is, it has too many rules, too much government spending and too few market forces to keep costs low and quality high.

Among my favorite quotes, this by P. J. O’Rourke:
If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it’s free.

With people coming out across the nation on 9/12 by the thousands to protest Obama’s administration and its failing health care initiative, it can hardly be an accident he chose to conduct his first bogus town hall meeting after 9/11 in Minneapolis.
Minnesota, of all the states, has most clearly demonstrated how far it has its political head up its ass, by electing retired wrestler and native son Jesse Ventura as Governor and failed comedian and failed liberal talk show host Al Franken as Senator.
Obama must be calculating that pitching his snake oil to his naive and gullible worshipers in Minneapolis will yeld the best media images and sound bites he can get, to use against the swelling ranks of his opponents.
Wake up, Minnesotans. Stop being fooled by these charlatans. Your trust in unions and political empty suits has your state in the economic toilet, and now Obama is standing poised with his hand on the lever, ready to flush you all down the drain once and for all.
State unemployment shows improvement
A government report shows 17 states and Washington, D.C., recorded month-over-month decreases in July, more than three times the number in June.
Catherine Clifford

August 21, 2009Only two states, Vermont, at 0.5 percentage point, and Minnesota, at 0.3 point, showed what were considered significant decreases in unemployment rates.
California lost the most jobs in July, shedding 35, 800 jobs, due to its large size. North Carolina lost 26,400 jobs, Florida lost 25,200 jobs and Illinois shed 13,000 jobs.
Compared to the same time last year, all 50 states and the District of Columbia posted higher unemployment rates, with 15 states having double-digit unemployment percentages.
Michigan had the highest unemployment rate at 15%, but that was down 0.2 percentage point from June. Michigan has been especially hard hit by the collapse of the U.S. auto industry and the housing meltdown.

The Free Our Health Care Now petition was delivered to Congress yesterday with 1.3 million + signatures, making it the largest public policy petition ever.
Politicians are now on notice that their 2010 and 20012 re-election aspirations are in the toilet if they choose to ignore their constituents and try to cram BO’s bogus health care program down our throats.
Power to the people!

Boy King’s long, dull bloviating speech last night was obviously nothing more than words, words and more words, focused like a laser beam at his sagging poll numbers on health care issues.
Of particular interest was his transparent ploy to assuage those of us who see tort reform as a key element in any meaningful and honest attempt at health care reform:
Same Old-Same Old from Obama tonight? UPDATED: Demonstration Projects are for suckers

Washington ExaminerOther than this unexpected offer to sell us the Brooklyn Bridge, Obama’s speech was pretty much as expected – more of the same old/same old, mixed with a stronger than expected measure of partisan bile aimed at his critics and a vintage Obama flight into the rhetorical sky. Won’t make much difference one way or the other in the ultimate outcome of the great health care reform debate of 2009.
I know Wilson’s, “You lie!” outburst, although refreshing as an honest utterance in Congress, was in particularly bad form. But I do have to admit I was yelling the same thing (and worse) at the TV through most of Obama’s speech.
